Overall Reflection Statement for Christian Leadership

For my goals in Christian leadership, I am submitting screenshots of the training models to demonstrate(s) my continuous learning experience throughout the year with MarketPlace Chaplains.  MarketPlace Chaplains taught me that growth is deliberate, and I must be imaginative and resourceful in serving others as the world changes.

For my goals in Christian leadership, I am submitting pictures of the Spiritual Formation Leadership training and Lead Lab Training I attended. Spiritual Formation has taught me that I am not infallible to mistakes nor immune to correction. The Screwtape Letter instilled in me the importance of self-awareness and asking questions, which are critical qualities of a good leader. The better I understand who I am and recognize my strengths and weaknesses, the more effective I can be as a leader. Leading authentically and remembering to be one’s true self and a leader others can depend on is essential.

Learning Reflection
As I developed and demonstrated Christian leadership, I learned trust in leaders is built through humility, accountability, communication, and consistency. When I visited the worksites for Marketplace, I learned if I was not committed and open to those I was serving, it would be hard to dispel any skepticism that employees may have regarding chaplains in the workplace. With Christ being my model, I learned to evaluate every situation through the lens of trust. Some people welcomed me with open arms, and some shied away from me. What I learned about myself is I must extend the same love to all. This experience has taught me that I need to be disciplined in my spiritual development because it is easy for the flesh to take over. This practical application of love applies to all areas of ministry. As you authentically share missteps and pain, I found people are open to letting you in their lives. This aligns with what my mentors reinforce daily: always be present. That is why allowing the Holy Spirit to continually move in and through my heart is essential. Ministry is not easy, and it is vital to understand that the challenges I face are not about me but about God and what he has commissioned me to do for the kingdom.

Lifelong Development Statement

As a result of the experiences documented by these artifacts, I have learned it does not matter what gifts I have if my service to others is not centered in love. To love well as a chaplain means to be present and not be distracted by my life circumstances. Being an introvert, it is easy for me to withdraw from others, but the love of God propels me to stay connected to my community and be a channel of love for those facing life challenges. I will continue to develop in Christian leadership by doing everything in love (Proverbs 17:17) and seeking growth opportunities within and outside my community.
